Cote d’Ivoire former President foresees peace and reconciliation in Ivory Coast

Mr. Laurent Gbagbo of the Ivorian Popular Front (FPI) and Mr. Henri Konan Bedie of the Democratic Party of Côte d'Ivoire (PDCI) have reiterated their will "to work for true reconciliation in Côte d'Ivoire"

Charged for war crimes and crimes against humanity, following a disputed presidential election results in 2010, trailed by the International Criminal Court and acquitted after ten years, Cote d’Ivoire main opposition, Mr. Laurent Gbagbo foresees peace and reconciliation for his country.

The former ruling party, head, and president of Cote d’Ivoire has been touring several parts of his country since his return on June 17, 2021 from Belgium.

According to a credible information gathered by the Liberia Public Radio   correspondent in Abidjan noted that Mr. Laurent Gbagbo of the Ivorian Popular Front (FPI) and Mr. Henri Konan Bedie of the Democratic Party of Côte d’Ivoire (PDCI) have reiterated their will “to work for true reconciliation in Côte d’Ivoire”.

For Henri Konan Bédié, this reconciliation imperatively requires the involvement of all; “This reconciliation will be achieved through the strong will of President Alassane Ouattara, of all the political actors that we are, of our compatriots and of our various development partners”

“The lessons courageously drawn from our past misunderstandings must be powerful levers to build lasting peace for the benefit of everyone’s happiness and progress for all,” Bédié said.

In addition, ‘’I am resolutely committed to work for the true reconciliation of the Ivory Coast’’.

To materialize this desire to go to reconciliation, the president of the PDCI-RDA invites the various parties to “initiate a reconciliation project through an inclusive national dialogue”.

Mr. Henri Konan Bedie made the statement on Sunday, July 11, 2021 during with Mr. Laurent Gbagbo in the Ivorian commercial capital city, Abidjan.

Early last week, former president Laurent Gbagbo visited the hometown (Daoukro) of former president Henri Konan Bedie something, which some Ivoirians considered as ‘’a sign of reconciling Ivoirians throughout the country.
