Healthcare workers 30 months salary protest paralyzes C .H Rennie Hospital operation

Many patients at the C H Rennie Hospital remain unattended to as the protest continues
 
Aggrieved workers at the C.H. Rennie Hospital in Margibi County Monday July 19 went on the rampage over  delay in the payment of their 30 months arrears.
 
Several patients were denied access to medical treatment on Monday, after aggrieved Workers of the C.H Rennie Hospital in Kakata, Margibi County located  73 kilometers   away from Monrovia locked the compound of the hospital in demand of their 30 Months salaries.
 
The health workers protest comes as  the country is being overwhelm with the fight against  CoVID 19 Pandemic.
The workers told Liberia Public Radio that they have been issued letters of assignment from the Human Resource Department that they have been acting on since 2015 and have taken salary twice since the insertion of the Weah administration.
The aggrieved workers also denied doctors, nurses and Administrators access to the hospital compound

The spokesperson of the  aggrieved workers Steve Jallah told Liberia Public Radio  that the protest was their last alternative after several pleads to health authorities and the county legislative Caucus went unaddressed.

Jallah added that they have been paid as contractors since their assignment at the hospital without knowing the source of their salaries.
He admitted that on several occasions they have written members of the County Legislative caucus and other authorities to address the issue but it has fallen on death ears.
Authorities in the County are appealing to the health workers to accept 3 month arrears out of the 30 months.
 
The protest lasted for  nearly 7 hours of after which the  County Superintendent and head of the hospital board Jerry Varnie called on aggrieved health workers to keep calm, assuring them that payment of at least three months will be considered out of the 30 months arrears.
 
Supt. Varnie promised to have said amount disburse before July 26, 2021, while the rest of their demands including their remaining arrears will be discussed on July 29 of this year.
 
Meanwhile MARGIBI COUNTY senator J. Emmanuel Nuquay during an intervention Monday  pleaded with the aggrieved workers to accept at least three months payment while the rest of the other months are being secured.
