Students’ protest turns bloody at University of Liberia

Several students at the university of Liberia have sustained injuries following a protest on the institution main Campus on Capitol Hill.

Students of the University of Liberia have been protesting for some days in demand of regular classes at entity.

The school administration has since introduced E-Learning due to the COVID-19 pandemic but the students described the process as a ‘mess’ because many of them are unable to register smoothly.

They want the regular in person classes resume as secondary students are on campus as well as people are being allowed to protest.

LPR national correspondent in Monrovia saw students who sustained severe bodily wounds after police officers advance into the university compound to disperse the protesting students.

The students have been protesting for days now calling on the administration to resume in person classes

The police also fired teargas and water cannons as the students-mainly from a campus based Students Unification Party (SUP) throw stones at the police.

So far there has been no official comment from the UL administration.
