Côte d’Ivoire has recorded what appeared to be a ‘significant wave’ of people infected with Covid-19 in recent weeks according to brief statistic from the health ministry of the country for the month of August 2021.

The health ministry indicated that for the month of August alone 5,634 positive cases were recorded while, 4,567 people were recovered and 112 deaths.

According to a compilation of daily figures from the Ivorian Ministry of Health, Public Hygiene and Universal Health Coverage, there is a daily average of 182 new positive cases, 147 recovered and 4 deaths.

During the month of August 2021, statistics revealed that the highest number of new cases is 410, the number of newly recovered is 278, while the peak in deaths climbed on August 25 to 11.

On September 1, 2021, 479 new cases of Covid-19 out of 3,976 samples taken, i.e. 12% of positive cases, 189 cured and four deaths were recorded.

Liberia Public Radio National Correspondent in Abidjan said the country has now recorded 56,148 confirmed cases including 54,002 people recoveries, 445 deaths and 1,701 active cases.

On August 31, 16,570 doses of vaccine were administered.  So far, 1,370,123 doses of vaccine has been administered from March 1 to August 31, 2021.

The government of Cote d’Ivoire has encouraged People over 18 years of age to be vaccinated at vaccination centers across the country.
