Alternative National Congress Political Leader Alexander Benedict Cummings has revealed that he will end his ‘Presidential bid’ if he fails in 2023 for Liberia’s highest office.

Cummings told Liberia Public Radio’s Alphonso Zeon Soe that he will direct more energy to his Cummings Africa Foundation and other activities that will impact the country and its people.

According to him, despite having the desire to change the country, only the people of Liberia can give him authority to change their story, and if they do not see him as the person do that, he will seek others alternatives to serve his country.

“I will go and focus on my Foundation and other means that will allow me help Liberians if I failed in my bid to be President of Liberia in 2023” Cummings noted.

Cummings reiterated his comment that only at the presidency he can  impact the country of 5  million people, dispelling  rumors that he is been ‘overly ambitious’  seeking only the presidency  other than the legislature.

The ANC Political Leader noted being the President of Liberia give one the authority to take most important and prudent decision that the shift lives of millions of citizens as compare to a lawmaker or individual.

The experience Debate

Most of Mr. Cummings critics have not just complain of what they see as been overly ambitious for the presidency, but they also claim that he lacks governmental experience and will find it difficult to solve Liberia’s compound complex problems.

But the ANC political leader thinks that running government is the same as working in senior managerial position for a company like Coca Cola which is worth approximately $230 billion.

Mr. Cummings indicated that he has the requisite experience to grow the economy, transform lives and make Liberians to be proud of themselves.

While trying hard to avoid calling the name of his competitor for the pending Collaborating Political Parties Primary, former Vice President Joseph Boakai who many of his supporters think Cummings should play second to given his experience in both Public and private service, the former Coca Cola executive urged those claiming to have more governmental experience hem him to tell the Liberian people where have their experience taken the country.

“From the look of things, I think their experience have taken the country nowhere, nothing their experience has done for the country” he said.

  Keeping the goal alive

Recently Mr. Cummings paid former Vice President a visit at his JNB Foundation office in Paynesville a visit that was given huge publicity by supporters of the CPP.

Before that visit, there has been infighting in the CPP with his supporters and that of former Vice President Joseph Boakai attacking each other a situation that has left many thinking that the Collaborating Political Parties may crumble before the 2023 elections.

But Mr. Cummings assured Liberian that the CPP will hold and make President George Weah a one term President.

Cummings noted that the goal of the collaborating Political Parties is to make President George Weah a one term President and ensure that the country move in the direction that every single citizen have their dreams and aspiration come true.

He called on partisans of the CPP not to forget the goal of making Mr. Weah a one term leader.

The ANC political leader mentioned that in coming days he is Party will be cross cutting the country to make a compelling case to members of the CPP and Liberians.

He vowed to support former Vice President Joseph Boakai if he emerges as the winner of the CPP primary and expressed optimism that the Unity Party Political leader will replicate similar gesture towards him if he wins.

Who in the lead ahead of primary

Time is fast approaching for the Collaborating Political Parties (CPP) to seal a ticket they believed will land them the presidency from President George Weah and the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC).

And of late there is been cross carpeting of support from constituent members of the CPP to both Mr. Cummings and Boakai who are expected to go head to head in the December primary.

As it stands, former Vice President Joseph Boakai has the backing of his Party likewise Mr. Cummings with the ANC but the former VP is enjoying the support of the All Liberia Party of Businessman Benoni Urey.

Urey and Boakai alliance is growing by the day with Unity Party 15 counties chairs recently paying Mr. Urey a visit to thank him for his support to their standard Bearer.

Mr. Boakai also recently got the endorsement of Senator Darius Dillon of the Liberty Party though the party is yet to decide on who to support in the December primary.

As both men prepare for the primary, former Vice President Joe Boakai appears to be in a comfortable position with 608 delegates on his side that is, if delegates of his Unity Party and that of the All Liberian Party of Businessman Benoni Urey remain committed to him and getting a handful of Liberty Party delegates will be enough for the former Vice President to land the ticket,

For Mr. Cummings, losing out on the LP will be detrimental to his quest for the CPP ticket and the Presidency.

The ANC political leader desperately need if not all 90% of the Liberty Party delegates and fight to lure some delegates from the UP and ALP camp.

A survey conducted by Liberia Public Radio on Liberian opposition leaders shows that Mr. Cummings appears now have more work to do then his competitor Joseph Boakai, though politics it is not done until it is done.
