Despite the emergence of these names, Representative Smith appears to be holding his base tight and governing new supports especially among the young people.

A fortnight ago, 17 prominent youths of the district declared their support for Representative Smith re-election bid describing him as the only man they think can move the district forward. Among them are the former Charmian of the concern Youth of District 2 Patrick J. Boakai, Mulbah Koquoi who this morning September 16, 2021 resigned as Spokesperson of the Collaborating Political Parties Solidarity Brigade district 2 chapter.

Koquoi in his resignation noted that he was leaving his post to give other the chance to serve and still remains a member of the collaborating Political Parties

The group of young people in a released issued September 15, 2021 in Paynesville noted that having carefully scrutinized and cross-examined the workings of the current Lawmaker, would-be, and already known aspirants across the district since the inception of the CDC government, they have realize that there would be no better person to lead this hugely challenged district other than Representative Smith.

They described Representative Smith as person who has used several years of his time and resources building both human and infrastructure capacities of his people, and a man who sees people beyond Status, Religion, Tribe, and least to mention Political Alignment.

“fellow residents of our unmarketable district, we will be knowingly ungrateful to the only person within our district with such potentials and proven records if we all fail to support such an unmatchable character whom we have all known for standing by us more than a decade now” the group of young people noted.

Political pundits in district 2 thinks that though many will describe the 16 young people as minority, their declaration is a boast to Representative Smith re-election bid given that the young people who joined command lot of influence on some their colleges in the district.

According to them, while there will be criticism of them regarding the decision, it is a good move by Representative Smith to bring on board some of those who once criticize him.
