Chimpanzee commonly called (Bamboo) in Liberia has reportedly snatched away two children in Cocopa Division Six in Nimba County.

Liberia Public Radio regional correspondent in area said the children include a four-month-old baby and a one-year-old child.

The two children (Males) according to report, where with their mother on the farm when the incident happened.

According to my source, one of them have been found and currently seeking medication at the Cocopa Clinic as Community.

In March 2021, a chimpanzee in the Saclepea region in Nimba raped a four year-old girl after the little girl was reportedly left alone in a village.

However, the Forestry Development Authority (FDA) dispatched an investigative team to the community where the incident took place but there was no concrete outcome.

The FDA is the government of Liberia arm responsible for forest related issues.

The team comprises staff of FDA on the ground and officers of the Liberian National Police Women and Children Protection Unit.

FDA said the team was charged with the responsibility to conduct an in-depth investigation into the matter and establish the possibility of a chimpanzee having sex with human being.

Human-animal conflict is common in Liberia especially in forested region where many wildlife habitats are being destroyed.
