Heavy rain kills two children in Ivory coast

The government of Cote d’Ivoire through its ministry of solidarity and the fight against poverty has announced the death of two students in Abidjan on Sunday,  October 24, 2021.

According to the information the bodies of the two children were washed away by the rain on Friday, 22nd October 2021 in the most populated community of Abidjan, Yopougon, and were later found on Sunday, October 24, 2021 in Yopougon-Lokoua.

The Minister of Solidarity and the Fight against Poverty, Myss Belmonde Dogo described the death of the children on the ministry’s official Facebook page as “Hope has died out.”

“The bodies of the two children were recovered this morning by the Group of military firefighters” (GSPM), she added, while extending her condolences to the Kouassi family.


Marvin Kouassi and Kylian Kouassi, aged fourteen (14) and seven (7) respectively, were swept away by the waves of the heavy rain that fell in Yopougon, while they were on their way to school, Friday, October 22, 2021.


It can be recorded in June 2020 that several some people lost their lives and properties were destroyed as the result of the rainy season.

Liberia Public Radio correspondent in Abidjan  said there has been heavy downpours of rain in the city.
