Public Works Ministry assures major roads to be rehabilitated soon

The Ministry of Public Works(MPW) has assured Liberians that major rehabilitation of roads across the country will be implemented this dry season(summer).

According to Acting Minister of MPW, Ruth Coker-Collins, all preparations and measures  have been put in place to commerce rehabilitation and pavements of roads across the nation.

Minister Collins made the disclosure over the weekend when the Emerging Journalists Association of Liberia(EJAL) honored her with “exemplary leadership” at the Ministry in improving road connectivity in the country.

She stated that road connectivity is require across the 15 counties to ensure smooth access of  goods and services from one to another.

The Public Works Ministry added the ministry is hoping that every county  has good roads condition, but the  budgetary allotment is not enough to  effectively execute road connectivity in all 15 counties.

Minister Collins stressed that despite the budgetary constrain confronting the Ministry, roads rehabilitation are ongoing in various counties to improve accessibility to  roads.

“Good road condition  is critical toward the transformation of the socio and economic development of nation building and President George Manneh Weah makes road connectivity one of the  major priorities of the government”, she stressed.

She asserted that roads have significant roles to play to improve  the living standard of the people on daily basic   which have been taken for granted over the years, but government is concerned to improve the development of  roads in the country.

Minister Collins said her team at the Ministry expressed thank and appreciation to President Weah for given them the opportunity to serve their country in such positions to help transform the developmental drive of Liberia.
