“I give up and not knowing I could make it again,” Philanthropist Emily Peal Discloses

MONROVIA-It was a scene of emotions at the St. Kizito Parish in Paynesville on Sunday December 5, 2021 when scores of Liberians emerged in Thanksgiving  Service  Mrs. Emily G. Peal.

The event was held to honor her safe return to the country after a protracted period of seeking medical treatment in the United States of  America.

Madam Peal suffered Stroke few years ago due to a turmoil which occurred onboard a plane while returning to Liberia from an official visit.

She is a philanthropist and humanitarian and Founder of Action for Community Matters (ACOMA) a non-profit women organization established in 2014  and the Former Chief Executive Officer of Foundation for Women Liberia in 2007-2014.

She has and continues to contribute to the empowerment of thousands of women across Liberia through microfinance, agriculture loan as well as financial aids to students.

Making remarks ACOMA Board of Directors Women Representative, Felecia Shipper expressed delight over the ceremony that aims to appreciate the blessings of God upon Madam Peal for her recovery and safe return to Liberia.

“We have come to join the family and church to appreciate God for her safe return” she said.

Madam Shipper who could not hold back her joy recounted the tremendous efforts of her Founder for ensuring that thousands of women are empowered and respected, terming her as the Dorcas of biblical days.

“This woman made us, she told us rise up and be a help to our husband, today we can say  Emily Guegbeh Peal is recognize and we can call her Dorcas in the Bible” Felecia stressed.

According to her, despite the illness the concern of women was of concern ensuring that the women were sensitized and supported through the distribution of rice and other food items and noise mask during the COVID-19 pandemic.

ACOMA Women Representative encouraged them to continuously pray for her speedy recovery, noting several work is pending that would be in the interest of women.

Also marking remarks on behalf of the church Amos Brossius disclosed that if the development history of the church is written the name Emily G. Peal and Husband Alexander Peal will not be left out due to their massive contribution to the church.

Mr. Brossius stressed they have fully contributed to the works of God prior to her illness and during treatment in the U.S. also holding back his tears highlighted her personal role played in his life.

The lady who we celebrate along with her husband are not ordinary people but people who have been working in the vanguard of God’s vain year” he noted.

He applauded Madam Peal for the demonstration of courage during the challenging health condition being suffered, terming her as a strong woman and motivation.

With a weeping response Mrs. Emily Peal lamented her ordeal of illness and how she was resuscitated, noting her recovery is divine.             

“If you pray hard for something and God sees that it is good for you he will give it to you and that’s what will happen to me, because I give up and not knowing I could make it again” she emphasize.

She expressed hope to resume work that aims to better the living conditions of  women and the country.

 

“While in the U.S. I could dream about the women asking God to bring me back, so I am back to do my work and pray God takes me through” Madam Peal added.  

The Founder of ACOMA and Former CEO of Foundation for Women thanked everyone who turned up to ensure a successful thanksgiving service.
