Gbarnga Mayoress disappointed over ‘dirtiness’ of city due to low funding from Government

Mayoress Lucia Habert has lamented on the deficient support from National Government to her office as an obstacle to the well results of her duties.

At the a press briefing Madam Habert narrated that, funding from central  government to  her office from is limited  as such it cannot run the daily activities of the city cooperation-thus resulting into the dirtiness of the city

She asserted, that the Gbarnga city lacks truck to transport garbage parked at different street corners, adding that she is now compelled to rent pick- up to aid their operations something she’s termed as disappointing.

According to her, about LRD$83,000 is spent monthly as rental fees for the pick- up yet still there is no adequate money allocated to the office.

She says every city government in Liberia was receiving US $50,000 annually as government support, but the amount drastically been reduced to $6000 USD Something she described as “drop it a well”.

She is calling on the Bong Legislative Caucus to assist the city cooperation with vehicle as they await national government’s intervention.

However, the Gbarnga City Mayoress told Liberia Public Radio National Correspondent that majority of the workers at Gbarnga City Cooperation are not on government payroll and they are compensated from the meager funding generated by the city government.

Meanwhile, Mayoress Habert is appealing to  National Government to consider recruiting workers of Gbarnga City  Cooperation (GCC) on its payroll for the well being of the Cooperation.
