Ivorian President, Alassane Ouattara, has declared his intention to contest in the 2025 general and Presidential elections in Ivory Coast
President Ouattara boasted that he’s eligible to stand in the 2025 president election.
The Ivorian President made the declaration in an interview with France 24 RFI on Wednesday, February 16, 2022.
President Ouattara said he is relieved to have been a candidate in 2020, and since he’s eligible, he going to contest in 2025.
The Ivorian President emphasized that exceptional circumstances led him to stand in the 2020 elections.
“But today I am relieved that I did it, but it was a difficult decision for me personally but it is done, Côte d’Ivoire is on the right track I am relieved.”
“I will continue to do my job to ensure that Côte d’Ivoire holds its own and that we continue to make significant economic and social progress.”
This is his third times in office and if his intention for 2025 is anything for the people of Ivory Coast to accept, than 2025 will make Mr. Ouattara four terms President in that West African Country.
West Africa has been rocked by military coup resulting from holding on power, bad governance, poor economic status, lack of youth employment, among others.
