The Liberian Parliament through the Senate House’s Committee on Public Works and Rural Development, will on Friday, June 3, 2022, hold a confirmation hearing for public works minister nominee Ruth Coker Collins.
According to schedule report about, the mouthwatering hearing, which has been hit by several postponement and reschedules dates, The parliamentary legislation and Senate House’s on Public Works and Rural Development committee will open the session at 3p.m.
During the hearing, Public Works Minister designate- Madam Ruth Coker Collins is expected to grill the August’s body over her ability to head the ministry of Public Works, after acting in as Minister for nearly two years.
The Senate’s is expected to quizs, Madam Collins on the construction of several projects, She has undertake while acting as Minister, and that includes the rehabilitation of major and feeder roads, bridges, among others.
Madam Ruth-Coker-Collins, will likely stress that she is the right candidate for the post and to achieve the task of restructuring and activating the Ministry of Public Works.
President George Manneh Weah, recently nominated Madam Ruth- Coker- Collins as Minister designated for the Ministry of Public Works, after carefully vetting and deliberating over her workings as acting Minister over the last two years.
It can be recalled, Minister designate -Collins, assumed the position as acting minister of Public Works, following the death of the late minister Mobutu Vlah Nyepan, who died on October 30, 2020 in Accra, Ghana as a result of a reported stroke.
As a professional Engineer the Public Works Minister designate- Madam Collins has previously served as Deputy Minister for Technical Services at the Ministry of Public Works.
Meanwhile, under her watch as Acting Minister of Public Works, Madam Collins has spearheaded and completed several projects, including the recommissioning of the RIA Road Reconstruction and Modernization Plan, witnessing the arrival of South Korean Engineering and Consultancy Group, ilshin, the completion of the Japan Free Way, Barnesville to Johnsonville road, Redlight- Coca Cola Factory road, and Ganta-Saclapea road construction ongoing in Nimba, Lofa, and Grand Bassa among others.
It’s understood President George Weah has received huge number of praises for appointing Madam Ruth-Coker-Collins to the role as Minister Proper for Public Works.
Madam RuthCoker Collins, since joining the ministry of Public Works has proven to be real workaholic and has contributed immensely to the infrastructural development of Liberia, especially road development.
