Workers at Mano Soap- making, Clora- Manufacturing factory (MANCO) have  launched stinging retaliation against the CEO of Company- accusing him of Bad Labor Practice and maltreatment of workers.

The Aggrieved workers, mostly contractors, early  Wednesday  morning June 16, 2022, stormed the Soap- making  factory in a peaceful protest, alleging that the Company Chief Executive  officer (CEO) Asaad Fadel of intentionally assaulting one of its worker, identified as Munah Davis, who is said to be under critical condition at a local hospital in central monrovia.

According  to the workers, their peaceful protest, comes after CEO Asaad Fadel illegally dismissed seven of its members, who were recently suspended by the management, instructing  security guards at the entry not to allow them in the  premises of the company.

 Harriet Harris, who spoke on behalf of the workers, said it was base on Mr. Fadel, illegally dismissal of seven of their workmates that trigger their peace- protest. 

Harris told Liberia Public Radio that Mr. Fadel try to forcibly  drag the seven- person, out of the compound but got retaliations from co-workers and Mr. Fadel push to the ground Munah Davis (the employee who is in hospital) as she suddenly  fainted. 

Julia T. Sampson- another aggrieved – who claimed to be a cosmetic  machine  operator, narrated upon hearing that seven of their colleagues were sacked they began frustrated and decided to stage a peaceful protest, on grounds that their colleagues will not leave the fence and when the company General- Manager.

Madam Sampson- further explain to reporters, that Munah had gone to work, while she was pumping the detox from the machine, Mr. Fadel had called  for the immediate dismissal of seven workers who were leading the protest in demanding for the establishment of a Workers Union and increment of their salaries, which is said to be far below  government’s minimum wage Standard of $143.00 USD for month.

In addition tonContractor Munah Harris being hospitalized, the dozens of aggrieved workers said the Company Management has been constantly maltreating them, with poor working conditions of which some of them had suffered physical injuries and there has been no solutions to their problem.

Calm restore

After few hours of Commotion, calm was restored at the premicy  of the Chlora Factory, by officers of the Liberia National  Police through  the intervention  of Labor Inspector- General Eric D. Kpayea.

He added that the Ministry of Labor is engaging with the Management of the Manco Manufacturing Company about complaints,  injuries sustained of wokers of Manco Manufacturing Soap- making and chlora factory to settle things.

For his part, through kind courtesy that the aggrieved workers decided to sit and listen to Management for resolution to their claims, Monsterrrado County- District #15 Representative Abu Bana Kamara, to reporters that the matter has been resolves and workers were ask to return to work, immediately.
