Miss Essiana W. Weah- nicknamed “goddess of Sun”was on Saturday crowned the new Miss Earth Liberia at the grand finale of this year’s event at Ministerial Complex, Saturday June 18 in Monrovia.
She replaces 2021 titleholder Miss Odella Kanu Flomo.
The 25-year-old super model a student of the Williams V.S.Tubman University from southeastern- Liberia Harper, Maryland County will represent the country at the 22nd edition of the Miss Earth International pageant 2022 competition in Manila, Philippines later this year.
On the night, Miss Weah defeated at least ten other finalists, including Miss Promise W. Toe who finishes as first- runner-up, Miss Leona Perfect Duweh was crowned second- runner-up, while Miss. Reneta B. Crayton and Gabrielyn G. Farngalo roundups the Top five contestants as She clinched title of Miss Earth Liberia 2022 on her name.
Other finalists at the colorful evening includes Miss Malai A.G. Senwah, Kamara- Stephanie K. Wreh, Miss Elizabeth S. Morlu, Miss Elizabeth S. Morlu and Miss Gabrielyn B. Kamara.
The winner,Miss. Essiana W. Weah will have the chance to replace 26-year-old Model and Belizean author Destiny Evelyn Wagner- current titleholder and 2021 winner of the Miss Earth International pageant as she gets her first International exposure.
Ms. Wokie Dolo, CEO, of La Queen Entertainment and National Director of the Miss Earth Liberia pageant said; “We are proud and delighted to announce that among a pool of beautiful and intelligent ladies tagged ‘Eco-Angels’, Miss. Essiana W. Weah emerged as the Miss Earth Liberia 2022 and most crucially She will have the privilege of representing Liberia at the Miss Earth International pageant.”
The 2017 Miss Liberia winner who spoke with lot of enthusiasm and passion as she introduced the pageant to the guests and afterwards commended the Environmental Protection Agency EPA for their continous support towards the event.
She said: “Miss Earth Liberia pageant is all about the environment and geared towards shaping the minds of young women to tackle climate change at the grassroots level.
“To our new queen, may you be an inspiration that reflects true vision to every young Liberian woman,” the La Queen Entertainment organizer of the Miss Earth Liberia pageant added in a statement.
For his part, Randall Dobayou- Deputy Director of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has reaffirmed the the entity’s continuous support towards the Miss Earth Liberia Pageant. In doing so, Mr. Dobayou said the EPA will continue to work with the La Queen Entertainment as it concept of the pageantry is center around the idea of promoting the Environments and preaching the message of climate change.
He said the EPA is committed in fulfilling that the winner of the Miss Earth Liberia Pageantry, therefore becomes an Ambassador of Climate Change for the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and shall suddenly represents the country outside,something he said will help enable young Liberian model get the explosure and vast knowledge about the importance of Climate Change and needs to address it.
“like usually done, EPA remains a committed partner with La Queen Entertainment with the so purposes of promoting the ideas of Climate change, “this will help our young women, have the access to travels and gain explosure of climate change, he said.
As expected, it was a grand event, and the build-up to the main grand finale had all the contestants camped for a week at the Royal grand Hotel in Sinkor, Liberia owned- Nollywood actor Eddie Samuel Obong Watson Jr. was the anchor.
The Theme for this year’s pageant was ‘Liberia’s greener eco warriors’ and this edition had approximately 30 beautiful ladies competing in the preliminary rounds, and 10 charming goddess finalists contesting for the prestigious crown.
In terms of prizes, La Queen Entertainment in partnership with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) handover a brand-new Sedan car, a cash prize US$ 1,000 for the winner, plus several endorsement contracts. While the first runner-up would received US$ 700.00 and second runner-up US$ 500.00 and a one-year management contract with La Queen Entertainment each.
History of Miss Earth Liberia
Miss Earth Liberia is the official title given to Liberia’s delegate to the Miss Earth pageant. The pageant focuses mainly on promoting environmental causes and winners are chosen equally on their physical attributes as well as their understanding and knowledge of the issues affecting the earth, this event is organized by La Queen Entertainment.
