Liberia’s Opposition and former Vice President of the Republic of Liberia, has sharply reacted to President George Weah, long stayed out of the Country, in What the Presidency describes as  series of bilateral and multilateral meetings with counterparts and business executives.” to foster the growth of the Country.

But the Former Ruling Unity party Standard Bearer, Amb. Joseph Nyumah Boakai, recently lambasted President George Weah, for his long stayed out of the country, on Presidential engagement and Bilateral Meetings.

Amb. Boakai, view that Liberia has been left on Autopilot by a President Weah, who fails to take responsibility, languishing abroad on for nothing travel.

The Ex- Vice President said he is shocked that regardless of the prevailing circumstances the country finds itself in, the President Weah continues to stayed long outside the country on flamboyant

President George Weah, had departed Liberia, on 1st of November 2022, to attend series of Presidential Functions as special guest of the 14th MEDays Forum in Tangier, Morocco, the COP 27 global climate forum in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, and the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Doha, Qatar and was expected 23 November 2022.

But the Liberian Leader, have however inform the Liberian Senate, that due to some additional bilateral meetings with foreign counterparts, including his attendance at the 13th Edition of the Peace and Sports International Forum in Monaco, France, where he is expected to serve as Special Guest of Honor from 30 November to 3 December, and the Africa Leaders Summit on the invites of United States President, Joe Biden, he thereby see it as essential and necessary to extend his travel engagements to additional 25days, thereby informing the august body, that return to the Country as of 18, December 2022.

Something that has led to the surface of huge criticisms from the oppositions, with the latest coming from the former Vice President Joseph Nyumah Boakai, who has taken to Social Media to blast at the President as flamboyant Leader and Liberia is on “autopilot” meaning a country running without a President.

“Our country is now on autopilot. This is all happening because of the decision made on that fateful day of December 26, 2017. Now, with eleven months to go to the polls, “I urge you to begin to soberly reflect on where we have come as a nation, and how low our nation has descended, Mr. Boakai quoted.

According to the former Vice President, Amb. Joseph Nyumah Boakai he believes that the problems should’ve been avoided if Liberians had not make mistakes in 2017, to elect an incapable leader.

“We are in this mess because we have a President who fails to take responsibility and has instead left the nation on autopilot, he said;  now the problem, should be at the doorstep of the people who will decide in 2023, to redeemed themselves and choose a right leader.

The rescue mission is beyond party lines, this is a rallying call to action. As a father, and leader of the rescue team, my arms are wide opened to receive all Liberians under this large tent. Join the 2023 JNB rescue team. I am upbeat that the appointed time has come, the Unity Party Standard Bearer added in a post.

The most cutting comments from Amb. Boakai, on President George Weah’s administration and the ruling Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC), come at the time the nation is heading to the mouthwatering Presidential election as the Incumbent Weah looks to retain the Top Seat.

Series of criticisms, Including the scarcity of basic Commodities on the Liberian Market, the Country Staple food Rice, Petroleum products, languishing Corruption in his Government, with three of his Top Cabinet Ministers, being Sanction by the US- Department of States, the delayed in the much anticipated 2022 Housing and Population Census against the Weah’s led Government, among others has came under the spotlight as opposition, is preparing themselves to unseat the incumbent, who they said lacks the competency to lead the country into Prosperity as Liberia continue to head in the drainage.

The oppositions has said the government had failed to contain growing extremism, leaving the country on the “rim of crisis”. While the President and his Government officials go about enriching themselves, causing the poor people to suffer.
