President George Weah has sharply reacted to the planned December 17, 2022, political rally, organized by the opposition Collaborating Political Parties (CPP) comprising of the Alternative National Congress (ANC) and Liberty Party as a complete distraction, to gained political attention.
The opposition has been mobilizing for nearly a month, for a well-organized December 17 planned peaceful rally, aimed at given Liberians the platform to vent their frustration and dissatisfaction against the Ruling Weah’s led Administration.
The CPP has said in series of news conference, that nothing can stop their peaceful gathering as it is their constitutional rights to assemble and vent what they are facing from the government on quest for a change.
Spokesman of the much anticipated rally and head of the ‘’WE TAYA SUFFERING’’ MASSES, steering Committee head, and former Information Minister Lewis brown, has said the deteriorating economic conditions and extreme poverty in Liberia and on Liberians are the main reason for the rally, this will speak volume of how Liberian are suffering and tire of the suffering under, a stubborn footballing President,” Lewis Brown said.
Amb. Brown, reiterated, that thought, threats and intimidation from the CDC-led government to erupt the planned peaceful gathering so that Liberians cannot expressed themselves, the Rally will hold, to send a clearer message to the outside world of Weah’s bad governance.
But speaking to a group of Liberians in Washington, DC, after the conclusion of the U.S. Africa SUMMIT, for African Leaders to brainstorm on bilateral relationship with the United States and improved the continent, President George, said his attention has being drawn to the planned rally, terming the process as a distraction led by failed politicians.
The Liberian Leader warned against any attempts by some citizens to undermine the peace and security of the Country and said strengthen action will be taken against, violence.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Justice (MOJ), through the acting head of the state, Justice Minister Cllr. Frank Musa DEAN, has granted permission for the holding of the December 17, 2022, rally, thereby instructing the Liberia National Police (LNP) to provide all necessary protection to citizens attending the December 17, rally outside the SKD Sports complex in Paynesville, Monrovia.
