Cote d’Ivoire government acknowledges improvement in security and health sector

Ivorian Security officials have announced improvement in the national security of the country over  the past years as daily road accidents and other security related incidents have drastically reduced.

Regarding the general security situation the National Security Council, following the presentation of the Minister of State, Minister of Defense, Téné Birahima Ouattara noted with satisfaction the significant progress observed at the security level, over the period 2012-2022.

The National Security Council is believed to be delighted, particularly with the considerable improvement in the securityindex, which rose from 3.6%  in 2012 to 1.39% in 2022.

The announcement was made recently when President Ouattara met with the national Security Council authority in Abidjan to be briefed on security situation in the country.  According to Liberia Public Radio correspondent in Ivory Coast, the satisfactory assessment which reflects the effectiveness of the numerous security operations, regularly carried out throughout the national territory.

“In this respect, the National Security Council is pleased with the excellent results obtained within the framework of the project for the resocialization of children in conflict with the law, carried out by the Police, the Gendarmerie and the Coordination, Monitoring and Reintegration Unit the” statement continues.

This project in the opinion of the government have made i significantly possible to reduce the number of aggressions committed by these children, particularly in the District of Abidjan.

However, the National Security Council is concerned about the growing number of street children who are being abused over some period in the country.

In view of this worrying situation, President Ouattara has instructed to the Government to carry out discussions aimed at ensuring a greater protection of children in the country the information further noted.

Furthermore, the National Security Council decried  the increase in the number of daily traffic accidents, which rose from 12 in 2012 to 46 in 2022.

expressed his condolence to the bereaved families, as well as his wishes for a speedy recovery to the inju

The Head of State then instructed the Prime Minister, Head of Government, as well as the Minister of Transport, to accelerate the implementation of the National Road Safety Strategy 2021-2025, in particular the sensitization and repression aspects.

He asked that regular reports be submitted to the National Security Council.

He expressed satisfaction with the general security record, while sending his warm congratulations to the Prime Minister, Head of Government, to the Ministers in charge of Defense and Security, to the High Commands and to all actors committed to the security and stability of the country.

 Members of the National Security Council, for their part, expressed their immense gratitude to the Head of State for his initiatives and diplomatic actions, which have led to the release of the forty six (46) soldiers detained in Mali since July 10, 2022.

The National Security Council also congratulated the valiantsoldiers for the discipline, resilience and courage they have shown during months of detention in neighboring Mali.
