A Key opposition political party in Ivory coast (The African People Party of Cote d’Ivoire) PPA CI of neighboring country, Cote d’Ivoire has released a statement alleging the attacks of its key members in the country.
Speaking at an emergency press conference recently at the party’s headquarters in Abidjan, the spokesperson of the former president Laurent Gbagbo, Justin Katinan Koné alleged that few key members of PPA CI were attacked in the past few days and point accusing fingers at the country ruling party, Rally Houphouetists for Democracy and Peace (RHDP).
According to a press statement issued by PPA CI over the weekend, on the night of Wednesday March 16, 23, a group of young people led by Mr. Abdoul Awassa, claiming to be from the RHDP and also presenting themselves as defenders of the Head of State, went to the home of Mrs. Marie Lorougnon Odette, a stank member and attack her.
It further that earlier Tuesday March 14, at 6 p.m. local time, Awassa Abdul and Gnaoré Franck Eric went to the home of the Lorougnon in search of comrade Lorougnon Odette but fortunately, their comrade were absent after noticing this absence, they left their names and telephone numbers and demanded that our comrade call them as soon as she returned.
The party added that during last week the two individuals accompanied by a group of young people, all claiming to be from the RHDP, actually went, as they had promised the day before, to the home of the Lorougnon.
“Mr. Awassa and Mr. Gnaoré forced the gate of the house and entered holding in respect Mr. Lorougnon, the husband of our comrade
There, they made threats against comrade Marie Lorougnon Odette directly recorded and posted on social media”, the party statement added.
PPCA CI has since descried attacks on its members as shameful on the part of their opponent to carry out such behavior.
However, the PPA-CI noted that all hostile acts against it are manifested each time it undertakes to mobilize on the ground as evidenced by the facts in particular, during the return of the former President Laurent GBAGBO some of their members were been disturbed by acts of “unprecedented police violence”, having resulted in serious injuries.
