How Korjahyee  Community in Sinoe risking outbreak of waterborne disease

The Program Coordinator of the Korjahyee Community Renewal Development Initiative(KCRDI) from District #3 in Sinoe County has alarmed that the people are drinking creek water which poses serious health hazard to them.
According to the Coordinator Sennay Carlor III, over 30 years now since the three hand pumps in the Korjahyee Community were destroyed, the community dwellers continue to drink from the creek without any purification of the water.
The Coordinator made the disclosure  when members of KCRDI paid working visit to Korjahyee from March 30 to April 3, 2023 to help their people.
According to him, the team which are children from Korjahyee based in Monrovia have planned to give back to their community through the developmental initiatives to foster the living condition of the people.
He indicated that their initiated cleanup campaign  with the locals to give the  community  a facelift.
Coordinator Carlor III revealed that the only public school in the community teachers have  not been paid   for several months now noting that his  organization and community dweller are contributing their little money to maintain the instructors in the school.

He asserted that the organization prioritized education for the youth and agriculture programs as well as guiding the people to be law abiding citizens through the rules of laws.

He stressed that members of the KCRDI have vowed to visit Korjahyee Community annually to help promote  development initiatives in the community and neighboring communities in the district.
Coordinator Carlor III noted that the lack of save drinking waterv is a major challenged affacting the various communities in the district.
In an interview with our correspondent Carlos  pointed out that the district and county stakeholders seem to be aware of the creek water being consumed by the residents  thus causing  waterborne diseases but no intervention from county stakeholders.

Liberia Public Radio is yet to verify the claim by the local organization head.

KCRDI through its  initiative has provided 14 solar panel  lights  for the community to enable children study in the community during night hours.
