Local entrepreneur urges government to empower Small Businesses

Esther McGill Hamilton, Chief Executive officer (CEO) of Wils Group incorporated comprises of the Wils Boutiques, Bar & Restaurants in Montserrado and Margibi Counties, a local entrepreneur has calls on the Government of Liberia to see the needs to empower local Business.

 

Speaking in an Exclusive Interview with Liberia Public Radio Madam Hamilton said with government assisting entrepreneurs with access to reasonable finance, access to skills and capital needed to improve their Businesses, will help improved the Liberian economic and increase revenue generation towards the National Budget.

“if Government can assist in empowering small businesses within the neighborhood, who are somehow key to revenue generation, can also help improve it’s citizens livelihoods, and bring about developments, She said.

Madam Hamilton, however acknowledged the challenges facing Liberian owned-businesses, but charged her colleagues to be persistence and patience in order to get going, despite the lack of fundings, especially capacited skills to increase their capitals.

“The overall goal is to promote and encourage entrepreneurship to foster self-reliance for sustainability, I’m urging Liberians especially those involved in small businesses to be innovative and think outside the box in transitioning not just their business, but those within the community where their businesses are located, so as to burgress government efforts in improving the economic and carrying out development,” Hamilton noted.

Business is about challenges, but you got to be persistence, conscious-minded and patience with costumers, in order to have a sustainable business, and when you have a substainable business, you become innovative as continue to expand your business, you’re improving development, she said.

As Small businesses, you must see yourself as remit as becoming ‘economic disruptors’ She said. “We simply cannot continue doing more of the same and expect meaningful societal change. Young people must be the catalyst of this radical change and entrepreneurship must be viewed as the vehicle to inspire an innovative departure from the existing unproductive norms that the country now face.” Madam Hamilton added.

Meanwhile, Madam Esther McGill Hamilton, vision is to see the Wils group incorporated decentralized in Liberia as they are already operating in Margibi and Monsterrado Counties, while their overall goal is building a luxury hotels, guest Houses, to service Liberian and foreign guests, while expanding into other African Countries, Madam Hamilton said.

The Wils Group of incorporated, Boutique, Bar and Restaurant branch 2, is located along the SKD- Boulevard road in Congo Town, and served as one of the promising Liberian-owned Business.
