Police in the Liberian capital Monrovia has arrested former Chief Justice Gloria Musu Scott and three of her members have been sent to jail after their appearance at the Monrovia city Court in connection with the death of Charlotte Musu who was found dead at the home of the former Chief Justice.

Charlotte, 19 was also a niece  and adopted to the former Justice Minister.

Charlotte Musu Scott  was allegedly stabbed multiple times to death at the home of Justice Scott in  Brewerville on Wednesday, February 22, 2023.

The  former Chief Justice and Rebecca Youdeh Wisner, Gertrude Newton, and Alice Johnson were  charged with murder, criminal conspiracy, and  false alarm.

Earlier on Tuesday they spent one night at the police Headquarters in detention and later release following a writ of Habeas  corpus by criminal court “C”.

Protesters assembled on the grounds of the Liberia National Police Headquarters but were  forcefully removed by Police officers under heavy downpour of rain.

The death of Musu has drawn the attention of citizens and advocacy groups. However, the Government of Liberia through the Ministry of Justice carryout an autopsy to establish the cause of death and bring the perpetrator(s) to book.

Justice Minister Frank Musa Dean told  protesters  recently that when he received their petition that they deserved to be heard, stating that the issue of the deceased is on the files of the MoJ and being investigated.

“We have not forgotten and we are investigating day and night considering every aspect of it, sooner or later you will be hearing findings from the investigation,” Minister Dean assured the protesters.

He indicated that those who have been accused and suspected in the case also have rights, assuring the protesters that action will be taken.

However Many Liberians have doubted the autopsy conducted by the Justice Ministry and Police preliminary investigation into Charlotte Musu’s death.

Deputy police Director Marvin Sackor has earlier told journalists that preliminary findings will shut many people thus casting dark cloud if the preliminary investigation will be fairly carryout.

There has been several Mysterious deaths in Liberia since the administration of current president George Weah started in 2018.
