Mamadou Koné appointed President of the Superior Council of the Judiciary

Mamadou Koné, Magistrate out of hierarchy, Group ‘A’ Single level, previously President of the Constitutional Council has been appointed President of the Superior Council of the Judiciary, a statement from the Ivorian presidency issued Friday said.

Mamadou Koné led the Constitutional Council from February 2015 to July 2023, before being replaced by Chantal Nanaba Camara, who took an oath on Monday, July 17 according to the in line with the country’s constitution.

The former President of the Constitutional Council, Mamadou Koné  71, is believed one of the most qualified Ivorian magistrates.

 Graduated from the National School of Justice in Paris in 1980  after studying law in Abidjan, he has held several key positions in the Ministry of Justice under different regimes.

Cabinet director of Faustin Kouamé under Henri Konan Bédié (Daniel Duncan was then Prime Minister), during the military transition following the coup d’état of General Robert Gueï on December 24, 1999, and then from 2003 to 2004 after the Marcoussis agreements (January 2003).
