Momo Cyrus won the senatorial election on his second try; he has been leading sport administrator in Lofa

During the 2018/2019 National County Sports Meet Lofa County haven’t failed to lift the country’s most important sporting event since its formation, sought the service of Momo Cyrus CEO of the Security Expert Guard Service (SEGAL) to steer the affairs of the Lofa County Sports Committee.

For the first two years of his stewardship, the county stopped in the quarter and semi-finals, but finally, in 2021, he landed the county’s first trophy in 65 years in a grand style.

Since then he has become a household name across Lofa county making his appearance on the political scene during the 2022 by-election where he came fourth.

He continued to engage the people of Lofa asking them to give him the change.

Chairman as he called by many, given his position as chairman of the Lofa County Sports Steering Committee won a seriously fought election against ruling Party candidate Moses Kollie, a former Representative of District Five Lofa county

Cyrus obtained 37,621, while Moses Kollie obtained 37,200. Former Superintendent Galakpa Kortimai came third while incumbent senator Stephen Zargo came fourth.  Zargo’s defeat means no sitting senator has been able to get re-elected in Lofa County in modern history.

Though Cyrus poorly performed in District One the home of the Kissi people, he managed to come close to Moses Kollie in District Two. He won district number three and four handsomely and came second to Kortimai in district number Five comprising of Zorzor and Salayea Districts.

Many of those who voted for Cyrus see him as an energetic young man who can lead Lofa to a greater height and unite the people of Lofa.

One of his supporters Joseph Valai writes: ”Lofa has a senator who does not hold a political alliance or allegiance besides the people. This makes me happy. Our county is getting divided hugely on party lines every day. This is not the Lofa County that we grew up knowing. Our people have always used traditions to solve our problems.

These values have been abused by the old political system and replaced with toxic politics that has only benefited few. The victims of these struggles are our fellow young people. I trust Momo Cyrus to unite the county. He is a senator who will begin to work for the county from the first day all the way to the last. Lofa’s progress is on course”.

Cyrus’ victory makes him the first man to obtain over 37,000 votes in Northern  county of Lofa.

He now has serious work in uniting a county that has been divided recently due to emerging rivalry between UP and CDC.
