In a what was seen as heartwarming gesture of reconciliation and unity, former Vice President Joseph Boakai presented a special gift to former President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf on her 85th birthday.
The event, which took place at the former president residence in Monrovia political analysts say was a beginning of reconciliation process between Boakai and Sirleaf who have not been on good note in recent years.
Former President Sirleaf, who served as Liberia’s head of state from 2006 to 2018, had faced a strained relationship with her former Vice President Boakai during the 2017 presidential election.
The election saw Boakai running as the candidate of the Unity Party, which madam Sirleaf is a founding member of, but the campaign period was marked by political differences.
It was reported that Madam prefer incumbent president George Manneh Weah over Boakai and did not support him in 2017 presidential election.
The Bokay gift presented by Boakai, described as a symbol of unity and reconciliation between the two longtime friends.
