President-elect Joseph Nyumah Boakai has vehemently denied a social media statement circulating that purportedly targeted the administration of incumbent President George Manneh  Weah in its fight against corruption.

The statement, which surfaced on various social media platforms Sunday November 19, 2023  alleged that President-elect Boakai  will constitute a team to fight corruption with specific target of the Weah led  administration.

However, in a press statement Sunday afternoon, President-elect Boakai categorically refuted the claims made in the statement. He asserted that the alleged remarks were entirely fabricated and aimed at sowing discord and misinformation.

The Office of the President-Elect says it recognizes the authority of the Office of President George Manneh Weah that is still in effect and protected by the constitution of the Republic of Liberia.

“Such a statement is divisive and intended to sow seeds of discord and to create disharmony in the country and as such the Office of the President-Elect distances itself from such publication”, a statement added.

Boakai further emphasized his commitment to a smooth transition of power and urged the public to disregard the false information circulating on social media. He called for unity and cooperation in addressing the challenges facing the nation,
