In a bid to connect with the vibrant and diverse Liberian diaspora, President-elect Joe Boakai embarked on a visit to the United States, engaging with the Liberian community in a series of impactful meetings.

Boakai, who secured a historic victory in the recent elections, took the opportunity to address the concerns and aspirations of Liberians residing in the U.S. The visit aimed to foster a stronger bond between the future leader and the diaspora, acknowledging their vital role in the nation’s development.

During the meeting, Boakai expressed gratitude for the significant contributions of Liberians abroad and emphasized the importance of their continued involvement in the nation’s progress. He outlined key initiatives and policies that would involve and benefit the diaspora, underlining a commitment to inclusivity.

In addition to addressing broader issues, Boakai engaged in a candid and open dialogue with community members, listening to their concerns, aspirations, and suggestions. The interactive session allowed for a direct exchange of ideas, fostering a sense of unity and shared purpose.

The President-elect also took the opportunity to recognize outstanding members of the diaspora for their contributions to various fields, highlighting the collective achievements that make the Liberian community an integral part of the global landscape.

Meanwhile elect thanks Diaspora Liberians for their support; as he highlights agriculture as a key sector for economic growth.

Liberia’s President-elect Joseph Nyumah Boakai says a change in the structure of the Liberian economy is needed to lessen inequality in the country. He underlined the significance of using natural resources for the good of the whole population, with an emphasis on sustainable development and value addition.

Inequality and social unrest have historically been caused by structural hurdles, which he also underlined the importance of having them addressed. 

President-elect Boakai defined his plan for resolving Liberia’s problems and spoke passionately about them while indicating that to maintain social cohesion and political stability, inclusive governance, and public involvement in decision-making were essential.

He emphasized the importance of agriculture to economic prosperity as he advocated for calculated investments to capitalize on Liberia’s agricultural competitive advantage.

President-elect Boakai was accompanied by the First Lady-elect, Mrs. Kartumu Boakai, at the official greeting function, which was arranged by the JNB Movement New England Chapter.

JNB as he is affectionately called by his supporters conveyed his sincere gratitude to the diaspora Communities for their knowledge, activism, financial and material support, media outreach, and critical voices that were crucial in bringing attention to the issues.
