President George Manneh Weah has nominated Dr. Samora P. Z. Wolokolie Commissioner General of the Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA).

The appointment made late last year is subject to confirmation by the Honorable Liberian Senate, as required by the 1986 Liberian Constitution.

If confirmed, Dr. Wolokolie will replace the late Thomas Doe Nah who occupied the position since 2020, and passed last month following a period of illness.

Dr. Wolokolie is the current Deputy Minister of Finance for Development Planning; a position he occupies since the inception of CDC administration in 2018.

Many critics of the Weah’s administration are not happy with the last minute appointments in Key tenure positions  by president Weah whose tenure as president expires on January 22, 2024.

Last week, the president appointed current Justice Minister Cllr. Musa Dean just few days after Associate Justice Joseph Nagbe announce his early retirement due ill health.

One critics told Liberia Public Radio the action by Weah is intended to hold grip of the Boakai’s government to get him prepare for his presidential bid in 2029.

It remains unclear whether  the Liberian senate will confirm these nominees as the many of them are still on break.
