Lofa County Senator Cllr Joseph Jallah has announced preparations for the 60th anniversary of Lofa County. During a recent news conference in Monrovia, Senator Jallah stated that plans for the 60th anniversary of the county are progressing well.
Senator Jallah mentioned that the previously announced dates of July 15-20, 2024, are currently under review due to certain reasons. Discussions between County authorities and the National Government have been actively ongoing and are now in the final stage. In addition, advanced discussions are being held among senior officials from Lofa, Bong, Nimba, and Grand Gedeh counties to expand participation beyond Lofa County.
Lofa, along with Nimba and Bong counties, was established by the late President William V. S Tubman of Liberia in 1964. Now, plans are underway to expand the anniversary celebration beyond Lofa County, with the inclusion of these counties jointly in Voinjama City, Lofa County, for this historic occasion. A new date for the celebration will be announced soon.
The anniversary program committee, in close consultation with the leadership of Lofa County 60th anniversary team, has intentionally sought insightful and positive critical voices. Senator Cllr Joseph K Jallah is calling for calm and restraint amidst the challenges associated with a large-scale planning program like the 60th anniversary of Lofa County.
Senator Jallah emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and tranquility among officials and urged every citizen of the county to remain focused on the planning process. Despite disagreements among citizens, keeping the focus on being a dream bearer and avoiding in-fighting that could dilute the celebration itself is crucial, he said.
In a statement over the weekend, Senator Jallah extended an apology for any inconvenience caused and sought kind cooperation and continued support from the organizing committee. He further urged all committee members to remain steadfast in realizing the success of the program.
