The Congress for Democratic Change is Liberia's former current ruling party.

In a recalibrating momentum that transforms setbacks into comebacks, the opposition Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) has convened a National Town Hall Meeting to embrace unity while sharpening focus ahead of the next Presidential election in under five years.

Addressing the Town Hall Meeting, the Acting Chairperson of the National Youth League of the CDC, Mr. Alvin C. Wesseh, rallied partisans to unite in cordial force to move forward.

He admonished them to set aside the defeat of the 2023 Presidential election while re-energizing for a prospect re-election. Wesseh noted that there would be disagreement, but those disagreements shouldn’t hinder the party’s progress.

He emphasized that unity is essential for moving forward.

He also clarified that the Youth League is not a radical arm of the party and that it vehemently opposes state corruption, mass looting, and the killing of innocent citizens.

For his part, the Chairman of the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) Cllr. Janga Kowo, announced a Youth League retreat, which will reignite hope for 2029.

Cllr. Kowo criticized the ruling Unity Party for being a failure and leading the country in a downward trend.

He decried the government’s incompetence, alleging that it has no plan for the country and mentioned the violation of the Constitution of Liberia, among other issues.

Also speaking, House Speaker Cllr. Jonathan Fonati Koffa stressed that the town hall meeting signified a preparatory mission for a possible comeback in 2029.

He said that such a gathering will enhance the party’s progress as they gear towards embracing unity to maintain a prosperous government.

Cllr. Koffa frowned upon division within the CDC, especially among the party leaders, and emphasized the importance of adequately preparing for victory.

He acknowledged previous failings to the masses and highlighted the need for sincere coordination and unity in order to pursue victory in the upcoming 2029 election.
