Mike Jabateh has been arrested for making threatening statements against Representative Yekeh Kolubah.
He currently serves as the Assistant Minister for Urban Affairs at the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the Joseph Boakai government.
Jabateh was apprehended in central Monrovia by the police to clarify comments he made during a phone call with the lawmaker, which were deemed threatening towards Rep. Kolubah. In the recorded
conversation, Jabateh was heard saying, “I was trained in Russia. If you continue speaking against the president, we will kill you in two weeks’ time.”
Many critics of the Boakai administration have condemned Mr. Jabateh’s comments as inflammatory and posing a significant risk to the safety of Representative
Kolubah, who is known for his outspoken criticism of the government and advocacy for various social issues.
Police Inspector General Col. Gregory Coleman has confirmed the arrest of Mr. Jabateh.
