Lofa County University’s newly appointed President, Dr. Isaac Podah, has identified political influence, tribalism, and low budgetary allocation as challenges facing the University.
In an interview with journalists in Monrovia, Dr. Podah stated that these are key factors responsible for the lack of progress at the University. He mentioned that political influence has led to salary disparities and urged politicians to refrain from using improper channels for recommendations.
Additionally, Dr. Podah disclosed that tribalism has historically influenced employment at the institution, compromising competency and qualifications. He emphasized that his administration will prioritize competency over tribalism and political polarization to ensure quality education.
Dr. Isaac Podah also expressed his commitment to depoliticizing Lofa County University and raising its standards to an international level.
He stated his intention to collaborate with all meaningful Liberians to significantly contribute to the growth of the University.
Furthermore, Dr. Podah plans to bring foreign instructors to the University in order to provide quality education in Liberia.
