In a recent appreciation message, Maryland County Senator J. Gleh-bo Brown celebrated the groundbreaking for an elementary school in Gbiabo Tayetaiwayso. During the ceremony, he reaffirmed his commitment to the project, which he described as a vital connection between himself and the community.

Initially, the community had requested zinc roofing materials to build the school on their own. However, Senator Brown decided to take on the entire project himself and pledged to complete the school without any financial assistance from the central government. He also promised to collaborate with the Ministry of Education, including the District Education Officer (DEO) and the County Education Officer (CEO), to ensure that the school is integrated into the government’s education system once completed.

Senator Brown characterized his second term in office as a “dream come true,” committing to fulfill his goals and aspirations for Maryland County.

Additionally, a 70-year-old man named John B. Wah reportedly foresaw Senator Brown’s victory in the senatorial elections on October 10, 2023. Senator Brown recounted that Mr. Wah had a vision of his success, which he described as a “dream” or a symbolic revelation. Brown made these remarks at a ceremony on January 4, 2025, in Gbiabo Tayetaiwayso, Maryland County  which was attended by representatives from the nine traditional communities in the Karluway Statutory District of Maryland County.

The senator revealed that he was contacted in 2022 by community leaders from the Karluway District, who sought to acknowledge Mr. Wah’s vision, believing it to be divinely inspired prior to the 2023 elections.

As a gesture of gratitude, Senator Brown has committed to building a house for Mr. Wah in appreciation of his influential role during a pivotal period in Maryland County’s political history.

Senator Brown, who chairs the Liberian Senate Committee on Rules, Order, and Administration, expressed his heartfelt thanks to the people of the Karluway Statutory District and Maryland County for re-electing him. He emphasized the historical significance of his victory, noting that Maryland County had not re-elected a senator since it became part of Liberia.
