Jackson Paye, the Officer-in-Charge (OIC) of the Liberia Refugee Repatriation and Resettlement Commission (LRRRC), has pledged to prioritize gender issues at all levels of the entity.

Speaking during the pre-validation of the entity’s Gender Policy at the LRRRC office in Congo Town, Mr. Paye emphasized the importance of addressing gender concerns, highlighting his experiences in previous roles.

“I am a supporter of ‘He for She,’ and I have the record to prove it. Wherever I have served, I have always ensured that women are included in leadership positions, and I will apply the same approach here at the LRRRC,” he stated.

The pre-validation process for the LRRRC draft Gender Policy Document involves assessing the policy framework that guides LRRRC’s operations, aiming for gender equality and responsiveness in its programs.

Mr. Paye expressed his commitment to establishing a robust gender unit within the LRRRC. He acknowledged the hard work of his colleagues who contributed behind the scenes to bring the policy to fruition.

According to him, the policy has been well-designed and meets international standards, making it suitable for advocacy at platforms such as the UN conference. He assured that with the creation of the Gender Unit at the LRRRC, he would collaborate with organizations like UN Women to ensure the unit is fully equipped and operational.

A seven-member technical committee has been established for the final review and subsequent validation of the document.
