In a significant step toward economic reintegration, thirty-nine Liberian returnees were awarded certificates on Friday after completing a two-month micro-entrepreneurship training program titled “Be Your Own Boss.”
The initiative, funded by Samaritan’s Purse Liberia, equipped participants with essential skills to launch and sustain small businesses.
The training modules spanned a range of transformative topics, including; Foundations of resilience, SMART goal setting, Personal development, Effective communication and Business ideation and planning
Speaking at the certification ceremony ,Mr. Jackson Paye, Executive Director and Officer-in-Charge of the Liberia Refugee Repatriation and Resettlement Commission (LRRRC), commended Samaritan’s Purse for its continued partnership and commitment to empowering returnees.
“This training marks not the end, but the beginning of a deeper collaboration,” Hon. Paye emphasized. “The Government of Liberia deeply appreciates the support extended to LRRRC through Samaritan’s Purse, and we urge these newly certified entrepreneurs to become shining examples within their communities.”
The graduates expressed heartfelt gratitude to Samaritan’s Purse for the opportunity to rebuild their lives through entrepreneurship. Many shared personal testimonies, reflecting on their repatriation from Ghana and the hardships they endured prior to returning home.
With renewed hope and practical skills, the trainees pledged to apply their knowledge to launch sustainable businesses—contributing meaningfully to Liberia’s ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development.
