The President of Grand Gedeh University, Dr. Eric Gbotoe, has declared that the institution is firmly on a path of progress and transformation, citing significant strides in academics, infrastructure, and administration.

In an interview with journalists in Zwedru, Dr. Gbotoe revealed that student enrollment has doubled compared to previous years, a development he described as a clear sign of growing confidence in the university’s programs and management.

He further highlighted the role of the National Legislature, which recently granted Grand Gedeh University full university status. Dr. Gbotoe hailed the decision as a “historic milestone” that has elevated the institution’s profile both locally and nationally.

Under his administration, several capacity-building initiatives have been launched to strengthen staff professionalism and skills. He also disclosed that the university has forged partnerships with foreign institutions, aimed at boosting academic collaboration and knowledge exchange.

Addressing students in the Nursing Department, Dr. Gbotoe assured them that the long-awaited Nursing Laboratory, currently under construction, will soon be completed. He emphasized that the facility’s opening will allow nursing students to resume full practical studies on campus.

Responding to speculation about his absence from the recent Student Council induction ceremony, Dr. Gbotoe clarified that he did not deliberately boycott the event. He explained that the ceremony coincided with the return of a visiting delegation he was obliged to accompany. “The university was fully represented by one of its senior officials in my absence,” he noted.

Dr. Gbotoe reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to transparency, academic excellence, and student development, pledging that Grand Gedeh University will continue to rise as a model of higher learning in southeastern Liberia.
