The Fiamah community in central Monrovia came to a standstill over the weekend when an organized group of gangsters commonly called zogos in Liberia stormed the community in search for the killer of ring leader only identified as ‘King Pharaoh’.
According to LPR’s contributor in the area ‘King Pharaoh’ was killed on early Saturday allegedly by a ring leader in Sinkor only identified as ‘Man Devil’.
The situation was triggered after a member of ‘Man Devil’ gang was allegedly assaulted by ‘King Pharaoh’ at Renaissance Night Club in Paynesville. In retaliation, ‘Man Devil’ allegedly moved on ‘King Pharaoh’ at his home in the Paynesville with hooligans and killed him in cold blood.
Five rioters in the Monrovia Community of Fiamah were arrested by the Liberia National Police over the weekend following the situation.
Residents in Sinor told Liberia Public Radio that after ring leader; the gangsters brought his body and dumped it in Sinkor, around 17th Street, to prove his supremacy.
They said after this the zogos began hunting people out of the Fiamah Market, leading to the stoppage of all commercial activities in most parts of Sinkor with marketers running helter-skelter until the police moved in to calm the situation.
The home of the killer of ‘King Pharaoh’ Man Devil was set ablaze during the riot.
Several properties were on damaged in including a popular Nightclub named Renaissance in the suburb of Paynesville.
The situation also has a spread over effect at the main entrance of the national radio station, Liberia Broadcasting System (LBS) when group of zogos believed to be supporters of ‘King Pharaoh’ stormed the station compound on grounds that his [king pharaoh] killer was in the compound. The station management is calling for the reinforcement of security at the compound to avoid recurrence of similar security threat.
Political undertone?
In a face book comment, Mulbah Yorgbor, Jr. who is believed to be the chief Executive Officer Renaissance entertainment center said he was in total fear due to the damage done to his properties. Yorgbor further stated that he believes the ransacking of his properties has some political undertone because he has no connection with the killing of ‘King Pharaoh’.
“I am afraid for what was done to my business center, I don’t deserve such treatment”, Yorgbor said in social media post.
Fearful Scene
“I want to thank God for I and my family lives for saving yesterday”, another resident of Fiamah Joshua Doelakeh told his church congregation on Sunday.
He said while on visit around the Robert Field highway, he received an urgent call from his home that group of gangsters has surrounded their home.
Mr. Doelakeh explained further that after the call he horridly boarded a taxi cab and returned to his residence in Fiamah only to discover that everyone has left the house. He added that their community was in total pandemonium with the presence of zogos armed with stones, cutlasses and other weapons.
The Liberia National Police has not formally commented on the incident, as the killer of ‘King Pharaoh’ is yet to be identified and apprehended.
