Senewein, Grand Gedeh County — Residents of Senewein in District #3 Gbarzon witnessed a significant milestone as Rep. Musa Hassan Bility, the political leader of the Citizens Movement for Change (CMC), officially broken ground for a major road construction project in the area.
The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by local authorities, community leaders, youth groups, and citizens. It marked the beginning of long-awaited roadworks aimed at improving accessibility and boosting economic activities in Senewein and surrounding communities.
In his speech at the event, Mr. Bility emphasized the critical role of road infrastructure in national development. He stated that good roads are essential for trade, education, healthcare delivery, and overall social integration. He noted that the Senewein road project reflects both his commitment and that of the CMC to fostering inclusive development, particularly in historically ‘underserved’ regions like Grand Gedeh County.
“This project is about opening opportunities for our people,” Mr. Bility said. “When roads are built, markets grow, farmers can transport their produce, children can easily reach schools, and healthcare services become more accessible.”
Community leaders welcomed the initiative, describing it as a timely intervention that will help ease transportation challenges, especially during the rainy season when roads in the district often become impassable. Youth representatives also expressed optimism that the project would create short-term employment opportunities and stimulate local economic growth.
The road construction in Senewein is expected to enhance connectivity between rural communities and major towns within Grand Gedeh County while strengthening the county’s links to other parts of Liberia.
As construction begins, residents are urging the implementing authorities to ensure quality work and timely completion of the project, stressing the importance of sustainability.
