ABIDJAN, September 13, 2026 — Côte d’Ivoire and Guinea have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral ties, with a particular focus on expanding economic and commercial cooperation.
Ivorian President Alassane Ouattara hosted Guinean President Mamadi Doumbouya on Sunday at his residence in Cocody, Abidjan, as part of Doumbouya’s ongoing state visit to Côte d’Ivoire.
According to a statement from the Ivorian Presidency, the two leaders praised the “excellent relations of friendship and cooperation” between their countries and pledged to diversify and deepen collaboration across strategic sectors. Economic and trade relations were highlighted as a priority, alongside political dialogue, security cooperation, and training initiatives.
The talks come amid broader efforts by West African nations to strengthen regional trade, investment, and economic partnerships. For Côte d’Ivoire and Guinea, closer cooperation could open new opportunities for businesses, investors, and entrepreneurs, while also advancing collaboration in agriculture, industry, infrastructure, transportation, energy, and human-capital development.
President Doumbouya arrived in Abidjan on Friday evening for a state visit centered on friendship and fraternity.
The visit provides both governments with an opportunity to review existing partnerships and explore new areas of cooperation, underscoring the importance they attach to maintaining strong diplomatic and economic relations within the West African region.
For Presidents Ouattara and Doumbouya, the objective is not only to preserve longstanding ties between Abidjan and Conakry but also to transform them into practical partnerships capable of delivering tangible economic benefits.
The commitment announced on Sunday signals a renewed push toward stronger trade, investment, security collaboration, political dialogue, and skills development between Côte d’Ivoire and Guinea.
