The Supreme Court of Liberia has reserved its ruling in Expelled Montserrado County District #10 Representative Yekeh Y. Kolubah’s appeal against his expulsion from the House of Representatives following arguments from both legal teams on Thursday, October 22.

Kolubah’s lawyer, Cllr. Jonathan Massaquoi, argued that the House violated his client’s due process rights by expelling him on April 17, 2026, despite a court order issued by Associate Justice Yussif D. Kaba directing the Legislature to halt further proceedings.

Massaquoi maintained that the court’s communication was delivered to the office of the Legislature’s Sergeant-at-Arms in accordance with the relevant legal procedures. However, Chief Justice Yamie Quiqui Gbeisay Sr. questioned whether the order was read to the Speaker.

Representing the House, Cllr. Bob Larway claimed Kolubah was removed on April 15 and the court communication was served on April 16. Associate Justice Jamesetta H. Wolokolie challenged his account, pointing to records indicating that the order was issued on April 16 and the expulsion took place on April 17. Larway struggled to reconcile the dates before the Chief Justice asked him to take his seat.

With arguments concluded and the ruling reserved, the Supreme Court is expected to determine whether the Legislature violated a judicial directive and Kolubah’s constitutional rights.

The case has drawn public attention to the limits of legislative disciplinary powers, due process, and respect for court orders. The date for the ruling was not provided.
