Citizens of the Grebo ethnic group from Maryland, Grand Kru, River Gee, and Sinoe counties on Monday staged a traditional protest in Grand Gedeh County, expressing concern over a series of reported deaths and disappearances in the area.

Dressed in traditional attire, the demonstrators gathered in a culturally significant display to demand answers from local authorities regarding the circumstances surrounding recent incidents, including the death of Sam Geekor.

The protest follows the discovery of Geekor’s body on October 23, four days after he was reported missing in Kanneh Clan.

According to reports, a 15-member coroner’s jury observed a cut mark on the left side of his neck during its examination, raising suspicions of possible foul play.

Protesters said they are seeking transparency and a thorough investigation into Geekor’s death, as well as other reported cases of deaths and disappearances in the county.

Authorities have not publicly confirmed the cause of death, and no suspects have been identified or charged in connection with the case.

The demonstration underscores growing public concern over security and accountability in Grand Gedeh County as residents continue to call for answers.
