Six out of 13 suspects in connection to alleged burning of River Cess County Assistant Superintendent for Development vehicle were on April 8 acquitted from Police Imprisonment after spending two nights in prison, in River Cess County following its preliminary investigations after.
According Karvin Georgejaye, River Cess County Youth and Sports Coordinator who signed the suspects’ release, during police preliminary investigation the six persons were not link to the incident.
Arthur Tarr, one of those released thanked Mr. Georgejaye for his role played in having them release and said he has no idea of the allegation.
“On Saturday April 6 I lift my town to buy food in the nearby town for my family and I to eat, on my way back home I was arrested by Police, placed in the vehicle and brought to Cestos, jailed for setting ablaze the Development Superintendent vehicle,” Mr. Tarr explained to LPR’s River Cess Correspondent.
Our correspondent said the remaining seven persons have been sent to prison by Cestos City Magisterial Court for allegedly burning a vehicle belonging to River Cess County Development Superintendent in Kayah, Central River Cess District.
Those reminded in prison include Timothy Garway, Beatrice Karl, Teeko Tarr, Paul Paye, Kosin Borbor, and Elijah.
Others are Floe and Tarr Borbor. They were all charged with Armed Robbery, Criminal Mischief and Criminal Attempt to Commit Murder, acts which violate sections 15.32, 15.5 and 10.1 of New Panel Law of the Republic of Liberia.
Eyewitnesses told LPR’s Kennedy Koloh in Cestos RiverCess that the development superintendent vehicle was damaged after he had gone to provide security for a scrape dealer who has to River Cess from neighboring Grand Bassa County to purchase nonfunctional earth-moving equipment when the incident occurred.
According to the report citizens of the community were unsatisfied with the arrangement of the scrap deal and try putting it to halt which led them to taking the law into their own hands.
The vehicle is valued at more than $6,000.00.
