Grand Kru County have been declared champions of the 2019/2020 national county sports meet by the organizers the Youth and Sports Ministry.

The Youth and Sports Ministry has also fined Nimba County one thousand five hundred United States dollar and banned for two years Nimba County and BYC coach Mouctarr Fofana and Nimba football Team Administrative Manager, Musa Kromah from all sporting activities in the country.

The two are accused of inciting the Nimba County players to walk out of the pitch during Sunday’s grand final between Grand Kru and Nimba Counties.
Nimba County walked out after Referee Hassan Corneh awarded a second penalty to Grand Kru County seven minutes in the second half.

Youth and Sports Ministry Zeogar Wilson says the decision is in keeping with the rules and regulations governing the 2019/2020 National County Sports.
But the pronouncement on the suspension of the best 2nd division coach in Liberia, Mouctarr Fofana has spiked huge debate in the football circle, as many described the government Ministry’s decision as interference.

This means, Grand Kru County have won the National County Meet, a record 5th time with their first cup since 1987.
The Southeastern county now moved at the top as the county that have won the County Meet title the most, with Nimba in second place on four titles.

Meanwhile, the Youth and Sports Ministry has apologized to citizens and sponsors of the National County Sports Meet for the incident on Sunday which forced the County Meet Grand Final to be abandoned
