Jungle Farm,Margibi County-The Christian Revival Church Association (CRCA), an indigenous congregational church in west Africa , has begun the distribution of food items across Liberia worth over LRD$1,000,000 or (USD$6,000.00) to its members.
As the 15 counties across Liberia observe a two week lockdown, food supply has become one of the most essential things for residents across the country especially urban inhabitants some of whom depend on daily sale to survive.
In order to rescue this food crisis, CRCA said it was prudent at this time to give some food items to its members and host church communities to have something to eat during the lockdown period.
Madam Yassah J. David, project Coordinator CRCA in Liberia speaking during the first round food distribution told Liberia Public Radio that the church was aware of difficulties some of its members are facing to feed their families during this period of lockdown and state of emergency.
Madam David urged residents of Margibi to remain vigilant and follow all health protocols announced by the government and health authorities in Liberia to avoid contracting the Coronavirus.
“On behalf of the Christian Revival Church Association, from the office of the bishop we have come to identify with all of you with a little amount. Continue to talk to your people so that we all can keep safe”, she adds.
“No one should come to you and say the virus is not real. Continue to talk to your people let them observe all health protocols; hand-washing, social distancing etc.”, Madam David further urged the residents.
Receiving the donation, Pastor John S. Tokpa, senior pastor of Christian Revival Church in Peter Town, lower Margibi County, lauded the bishop of CRCA in West Africa Dr. Dennis T. Agrey for the gesture.
Pastor Tokpa asserted that the donation from Bishop Dennis T. Agrey was not a surprise because similar gesture has been made in the past, wishing him God’s continue abundant blessings.
In a related development, the presiding bishop of the Christian Revival church Association in West Africa, Bishop Dennis T. Agrey said CRCA is a ‘holistic’ organization that does not only spread the gospel but also cares about the welfare of all its members.
Dr. Agrey giving the background of the donation to CRCA members disclosed that as the global COVID-19 pandemic continues to spread, the church is also concerned about the physical well-being of his congregants.
He said the initial distribution of rice and oil to about three counties will cost over US$6,000.00 and the church is posed to continue the distribution to other members in Guinea and Sierra Leone.
CRCA has over 1,000 members across the three Mano River union countries with more than 100 churches.
As part of the distribution on Thursday April 30, 2020 over 40 bags of 25kg rice was presented to jungle farm, peter and Brown towns located in lower Margibi County.
The organization said it intends to distribute over 1,000 bags of rice along with cooking oil to over 500 households in Margibi, Montserrado and Lofa counties in the coming weeks.
