Flash back: Liberian students in School

As the Ministry of Education remain uncertain over the reopening of schools across Liberia, many parents and guidance in Nimba are pleading with the Ministry to allow children be promoted based on their first semester results.

Making the pleading through a phone in program on a local Radio station in Sanniquellie Radio Nimba Tuesday, most of the citizens urged the Education Ministry not to let the effort of their kids go to waste, thus claiming that time does not wait for human.

The callers recommended that students who performed excellently well with either 80 average or meet the school required average should be promoted to another level to help over age and overgrown children speed up their education.

They requested the Ministry of Education to try in their possible way and revisit what they did during the Ebola outbreak in country where school going kids were promoted base our academic work.

The callers most of whom said they have 3 to 4 girls children who were above 13 years and still in the 4th to 6th grades needed to be promoted based on their academic work to meet up to current age level of other children in the sub region.

It can be recalled in early March, the MOE ordered the abrupt closure of schools across the country due to the outbreak of the deadly Coronavirus.

There has been some misinformation over the resumption of schools in the country.

Recently, the Communications Director of the Ministry of Education Maxine Bleetahn disclosed to LPR reporter that the Ministry will only reopen schools when a green light or go ahead is given by the Ministry of Health.

Director Bleetahn indicated that when the Ministry of Health give them the permission to reopen schools, they will inform school authorities two weeks ahead before the resumption of schools.

He mentioned that students will return to classes to complete their academic work before been promoted to the nexr class.

Bleetahn asserted that the Ministry of Education has concluded with Colleges and universities authorities to allow students who will successfully complete 12 grades to write and pass their entrances commence their study without WASSEC certificates.
