Ahead of the December 8, 2020 Liberia mid-term senatorial election, a group of Liberian pastors under the banner the ‘National Pastoral Network of Peace’ has endorsed the senatorial bid of Montserrado District#5 Representative Thomas P.  Fallah.

The religious leaders which include bishops, pastors, deacons and church elders at the jammed pack gymnasium in Paynesville on Saturday August 29, 2020 said based on the past record of developmental initiatives undertaken Rep. Fallah for the past 15 years as lawmaker they believe he is best suited for the Montserrado senatorial seat.

According to them since his ascendancy to the legislature in 2005, Rep. Fallah has extensively impacted the lives of people of his district ranging from awarding of hundreds of scholarships to students both local and abroad, several community developments amongst others.

The pastoral network who claimed to have our 20,000 pastors said Representative Fallah who has already spent 14 years in the legislature when given the opportunity to serve Montserrado will be the best thing to do.

Rev. Festus Logan, Chaplain General of the Coalition for Democratic Change and member of the pastoral network addressing his colleagues at the endorsement program Saturday said Rep. Fallah has done so much for his district and it was now to give him the opportunity to expand.

Bishop Matthew Gueh, another member of the pastoral network told the gathering that they would campaign all out to ensure that Rep. Thomas Fallah becomes senator of Montserrado County on December 8.

Referencing the 2017 presidential election which was won by ambassador George Weah, Bishop Gueh said he would join Fallah campaign from everywhere to ensure he wins.

Already some critics of Representative Fallah have told Liberia Public Radio that the endorsement by the group of pastors and bishops was ‘financially influenced’.

“We’re not hungry bishops looking for something from Thomas Fallah. If someone will say we are hungry, then we’re hungry for Liberia”, bishop Gueh added.

However, Bishop said he has known the lawmaker for so many years and he believes making him senator for Montserrado will be in the best interest of Liberia.

In response, Representative Thomas Fallah thanked the religious leaders accepting his vision and promised to always serve God.

He added that the trust reposed in him by the church will go a long way as he is willing to work and the religious community is highlighted by giving religious tolerance.

“We want to say thank you for trusting us, by the special grace of God I will not let you down. I will not make you shame”, Representative asserted.

Representative Fallah, who is contesting on the ruling Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) ticket is bent on efforts  to unseat incumbent Senator Abraham Darius Dillon who many claimed has brought light to the legislature.

Dillon was elected in July 2019 in bye-election following the death of the late Senator Geraldine-Doe Sheriff.
