For failing to hold county sitting, several health facilities abandoned in Grand Cape mount

Many citizens complained about the lack of health facilities to cater to sick people including pregnant women in Grand Cape Mount County, several Health Facilities have been abandoned in the area due to the lack of County Sitting by County authority since 2016 up to present.

Four Clinics and two health Centers have been abandoned in the area.

These clinics and health centers abandoned are Vaikanway Clinic in Porkpa District , Butter Hills Clinic, Porkpa District, Gonder’s Town Clinic, in Gola Konneh District, Jaaja’s Clinic, situated in Garwular District.

While the two Health Centers are situated in Damballa Health Center, Porkpa District, and Sewu Health Center in Kiawu Clan in Tewor District.

These facilities projects started in 2014. Some are partly completed while others are yet to be completed.

Informations surrounding the abandonement of those projects revealed that during the construction process, the Ministry of Health was not inform or part of the planning process.

The social development funds in the County has been poorly managed by both county authories and citizens in the areas.

Vaikanway Town clinic in Porkpa District is not yet completed but since abandoned in 2014.

The abandonement of these health facilities have created a condition where Pregnant women are some times carried in hammer, give birth on the way or died.

When girls are sexually abused by alleged rapists, everyone runs to the Sinje Center in the area thereby putting more weight on that health center when several health facilities that cater to such condition are been abandoned.

16 communities are surrounded by Vaikanway Town clinic, due to it’s abandonement in 2014,it forces residents to walked more than two hours before reaching to a nearby health facility, our correspondent says.

Report says grass, snake, and others harmful inserts have now become patients for those health facilities.
