The Mano River Union has donated one Hilux Toyota pickup the management of the Forestry Development Authority (FDA) as part of gestures to boost its activities in Liberia as it done in the sub region consistent with its project.
FDA is the lead implementing agency for the MRU program including strengthening transboundary natural resource management geared at sustaining ecological benefits while at the same time improving the livelihood of adjacent forests communities. When it becomes fully operational, local communities within the MRU region will benefit from alternative sources of income and related benefit of natural resources at the regional, national and global levels including ecosystem services, biodiversity and carbon sink.
Making the donation recently FDA management, MRU focal person assigned with FDA, Mr. William Pewu thanked the management and staff of the FDA for their cooperation thereby making the MRU dream in Liberia a reality. He extended MRU’s Secretary-General Madam Madina Wesseh’s and the ICUN thanks and appreciation to the FDA family and hoped for sustained cooperation and collaboration with the FDA management at all times.
In his acceptance remarks, FDA Deputy Managing Director for Administration and Finance, Mr. Benjamin Tennessee Plewon, III advised the focal point to be meticulous in handling the vehicle so that the purpose for which it has been donated can be fully realized. He cautioned the focal person to work assiduously so that FDA’s representation at the MRU can be fruitful. “I charge you to work with diligence and sincerity and raise the flag of FDA high upon the corridor of MRU region. Work hard and let FDA be glorified, he concluded.
Earlier, the Deputy Managing Director for Operations, Mr. Joseph J. Tally, urged the focal point to be on time in implementing the MRU activities so that FDA can continue to maintain its good image out there.
He also conveyed management’s preparedness to work with the MRU at all levels as it discharges its duties in the sub region.
