Liberia:Five newly elected senators certificated by NEC

The National Elections Commission (NEC) has certificated five  elected senators.

According  to the Chairperson of NEC, Davidetta Browne Lansanah, the five senators are from Montserrado, Bong, Margibi, River Gee and Grand Bassa Counties.

Madam Lansanah stated that the remaining ten Counties will be certificated as soon as issues surrounding their processes are addressed.

The NEC boss was speaking Wednesday January 6, 2021 at program marking the certification of winners of the 2020 Special Senatorial Elections held at NEC’s Headquarters in Sinkor.

She stressed that Liberians should desist from electoral violence if the country democratic will advance to another level.

She noted that electoral violence could undermine the fragile peace and stability of the nation and urged Liberians to understand that election process is everybody’s business.

Madam Lansanah assured Liberians and the international community that the commission is committed to conduct free and fair Elections despite the challenges confronting the country.

She commended the Liberian Government for its financial support towards the Special Senatorial Election, Constitutional Referendum and By-elections.

She also extend thank to local and international parthers for their unwavering commitment  to ensuring free, fair and transparent elections in Liberia.

Madam Lansanah retireated  that NEC will remain a credible electoral authority managing public elections for the Liberian people in line with laws of Liberia and international best practices.

Those certified were Senator Abraham Darius Dillon of Montserrado County, Senator Nyonblee Karnga Lawrence of  Grand Bassa County, Senator Prince Kermue Moye of Bong County, Senator Emmanuel James Nuquay of Margibi County and Senator Jonathan Boycharles Sogbie of Rivergee County.
