Abigail Kim terminates Contract with Fiorentina Women on Personal reasons

Liberian-born- American- striker Abigail  Kim has terminated her contract with Italian Serie A super Women League side ACF Fiorentina feminine.

The viola confirmed Wednesday, that the club has reached an agreement with striker Abigail Kim to rescind her contract and allow the player to leave for free on personal reasons.

Kim had asked to be allowed to leave stating “family reasons.”

” Fiorentina  and Kim reached an agreement for the termination of the striker’s contract, which was to end in two-years.

The striker asked to leave the club for personal reasons a few days ago and on Wednesday signed the termination of her contract,” a confirmed declaration on the Viola official website.

Coach Antonio Cincotta’s  wish the player all the best, it happen that you have to leave us, so early and will forever be miss by the entire team, good luck wherever you go, but your name will remain in our minds, the coach was quoted.

In a statement the club said: The US- Liberian striker leaves Fiorentina “due to urgent personal reasons related to his family sphere”

With a press release on its official website, Fiorentina Female announced that it had terminated the contract of the player Abigail Kim.

“ ACF Fiorentina announces that it has consensually terminated the relationship with the footballer Abigail Kofi Kim after having acknowledged her desire to return to her foster country, USA due to urgent personal reasons linked to her family sphere.

 Therefore, starting from today, the player will no longer be part of the purple team “.

The viola also thanked Kim for her contribution to the team, in a short remarkable spell at the club, she recently joined from National Women’s Super League outfit Orlando Pride, last September 2020.

She played nine matches for the club scoring two goals and an assist, including six games in the Italian Women’s Serie A

The 21-year-old, who previously starred for NWSL outfit Orlando Pride, before landing in Italy, late September last year and has not disappointed.

Before moving to Orlando Pride, the prolific goal poacher notched 18 goals, 10 assists during her 4 year collegiate career with Seattle sounder and California golden Bears in the United states.

Several honors 

She was twice named to the Third Team All Pac-12 and once to the Second Team All Pac-12, and had progress as she was also selected to the U.S. U-20 Women’s National Team for the 2018 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.

Kim was born in Monrovia to a Ghanaian father and a Liberian mother, but was adopted by a Korean American parents, Jin and Sue Kim of South Korea, who lives in the united States.

She grew up, in Seattle USA,  and has represented the US female National U20 team.

But, despite her affiliations with America and Korea, Abigail Kim, remains eligible to play for neither of the three countries, Liberia, South Korea and Ghana, based on the fact she has never been capped by a senior National team.
